Two Vehicle Crash Injures Motorcyclist in San Lorenzo

Casper, Meadows, Schwartz & Cook

A two-vehicle accident in San Lorenzo recently left one man injured and slowed traffic on an area interstate. The car crash occurred in the southbound lanes of Interstate 880 near the Lewelling Boulevard off ramp. A white BMW and Kawasaki motorcycle were involved in the accident.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers found the driver of the motorcycle lying in the middle of the road with injuries. He was taken to an area hospital where he was treated for his injuries. His current condition is unknown. The driver of the car was not injured in the crash. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.

The extent of the motorcyclist's injuries is not known, but serious injuries often result from car accidents. This is especially true to accidents involving motorcycles. The lack of protection for motorcycle drivers makes them more susceptible to sustain serious injuries in a crash.

A Contra Costa personal injury attorney can assist victims that have been injured in a car crash. It may be possible to file a civil claim against the parties responsible for the accident. Personal injury claims are generally governed by the law of negligence. In order to successfully prove negligence, the plaintiff must show that the defendant owed a duty to exercise reasonable care in the circumstances and failed to live up to that duty. A plaintiff must also prove that the defendant's actions caused him or her to suffer injuries and damages. A plaintiff may recover a variety of damages in a personal injury case. These damages can help pay for things such as medical bills, lost wages and provide compensation for pain and suffering.
