Walnut Creek Attorneys Helping the Bay Area - (925) 275-5592

It appears that the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) may have failed to cut down trees that it was responsible for maintaining, and it was these trees that downed powerlines on Sunday, October 8, leading to the wildfires that would become the North Bay fires and result in the loss of property, serious injuries, and tragic loss of life. If you have been affected by the devastating wildfires that have ravaged Northern California, then you may be owed financial compensation to help you start the process of rebuilding and recovery.

Responsibility for the North Bay Wildfire

PG&E May Be Guilty of Negligence Again

In 1994, the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) was found guilty of 700+ counts of negligence, including poor upkeep of powerlines, and these and other failures were deemed the cause of a fire in Nevada County. In April 2017, PG&E was ordered to pay millions of dollars in fines for a failure to cut back trees from their powerlines, which resulted in their powerlines sparking the Butte Fire in 2015.

  • Then on Sunday, October 8, PG&E released that high winds were resulting in problems with their powerlines.
  • From 9:00-10:30 PM that Sunday, firefighters were dispatched to several PG&E sites to deal with sparking wires, faulty powerlines, transformer explosions, and other serious issues.
  • The North Bay wildfires started from around midnight to 2:00 AM of Monday, October 9.
