Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident in California

Casper, Meadows, Schwartz & Cook

California residents may be accustomed to hearing about a pedestrian accident. In a state that has enjoyable weather most of the time, a fair number of residents enjoy taking advantage by walking or running outside. Unfortunately, motorists aren't always aware of pedestrians and tragic accidents can result. A recent pedestrian accident has claimed the life of one woman.

It was reported the woman was standing in the roadway when she was hit by a car. Tragically, she died at the scene. The driver who struck her stopped following the accident and was cooperating with authorities. Initial reports do not indicate that alcohol or drugs appear to be a factor. The driver apparently acknowledged seeing the woman in the roadway, but claimed that he was unable to stop or avoid the collision.

The family of the woman is now left to deal with this tragic loss. While losing a loved one is never easy, in a situation such as this where the loss happens so quickly can leave loved ones in a state of shock making it hard to make necessary decisions. Financial expenses such as final burial costs and any medical bills that may have resulted in the accident can add additional stress to a grieving family.

California residents that have lost a loved one as the result of a pedestrian accident may have the right to file a wrongful death suit. Having an understanding of the family's rights can help determine the best way for them to move forward with any action that is deemed warranted. With the proper understanding and by taking the correct steps, a family can be hopeful to receive monetary compensation to help with the financial losses that occurred as a result of the accident.
