Car Accidents: Suspected DUI-Related Crash Injures Three

Casper, Meadows, Schwartz & Cook

Most parents consider their most important job to be that of protecting their children. There is only so much parents can do to prevent car accidents, however, especially those that reportedly occur through no fault of their own. One California couple may have recently experienced this sad fact.

The family was traveling in a car with their young daughter in a booster seat during the evening hours. They had just pulled out of a parking lot when a pickup truck reportedly rear-ended the family's vehicle. Authorities determined that the driver of the pickup truck had possibly been speeding when he struck the car. The family's car was pushed into a pole while the pickup truck flipped over.

The little girl suffered injuries to her face, and she was sent to a local children's hospital for treatment. Both of her parents suffered critical injuries to the head and were also sent to a hospital for care. It was not immediately available if the driver of the pickup truck was injured in the accident.

The driver of the pickup truck was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, although it was not clear why authorities came to that conclusion. Authorities were still investigating the accident as of the last report and had reached out to the public, asking potential witnesses of the accident to come forward with information. Car accidents cause countless injuries every year, but California personal injury claims can provide a means for victims to seek financial compensation when they are harmed through a driver's negligent or reckless actions. In this particular tragedy, the family may choose to seek compensation for pain and suffering, medical bills and lost wages if they feel that the driver of the truck was indeed responsible.
