California Crash Leaves 5 Injured

Casper, Meadows, Schwartz & Cook

A collision between two vehicles in Folsom on July 22 left five people injured. Three of the injured were minors. The incident took place just before 4:30 p.m. on the northbound side of Empire Ranch Road.

According to Folsom police, the head-on collision occurred between Broadstone Parkway and Woodhead Street, when a Chevy Cruze crossed over the center median and hit a Kia Soul. A woman and three children riding in the Chevy suffered injuries. Another woman, riding in the Kia was also injured. Two of the children were airlifted via helicopter to a local hospital for treatment. The other three injured persons were taken by ambulance to nearby hospitals. None of the people injured in the car crash were trapped in the vehicles. All got out either by themselves or with some assistance and were communicating with rescue crews as they were being prepared to be transported to the hospitals.

Police are not sure what caused the Chevy to cross the median, but there are many reasons why this might occur. Some of the factors that could have played a role in the incident include distracted driving, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speeding or even a car malfunction. Police are investigating the crash.

People who are injured in a head-on collision often have to spend extended periods of time getting medical treatment, during which they may be unable to return to work. If it can be proven that the motorist who crossed the median was negligent in some fashion, an attorney could be of assistance in seeking compensation for those and other losses through a personal injury lawsuit filed against the at-fault driver.
