2-Car Crash In California Kills 2

On Sept. 20, an auto accident in Santa Clara County killed two people, and six others were injured. The crash occurred near Gilroy on Highway 152 and blocked both lanes of the highway were. The California Highway Patrol responded after receiving a call around 9:50 a.m. According to authorities, a 2005 Chevrolet Cruze was heading east and collided with a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Cruze was 53-year-old San Jose man, and he died at the scene along with a 65-year-old female passenger from Campbell who was in his vehicle. A 54-year-old woman from San Jose was also in the Cruze and was hospitalized with major injuries. The 20-year-old female driver of the Malibu and her four passengers were also hospitalized after suffering major injuries. The CHP did not suspect that alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.

Head-on collisions can result in serious injuries, and those involved in them may need long-term or permanent medical care. When someone is harmed in a car crash involving a potentially negligent driver, a personal injury claim may be able to provide that victim with compensation for medical expenses and lost wages. While a driver's insurance company may offer a settlement, this amount does not always cover a victim's expenses after an accident.

In a civil court case that stems from a motor-vehicle accident, a preponderance of the evidence must show the jury that a defendant's negligent actions led to the crash. Additionally, the jury must be convinced that the crash caused the plaintiff's injuries. Witness statements and the police report on an accident could help a personal injury attorney prepare a case for trial.
