23-Year-Old Woman Killed While Jogging in Vallejo

On Tuesday, March 31, 2015, a 23-year-old woman, Rita Caballero-Orta, was fatally struck and killed by a vehile while she was out on a morning jog. Ms. Caballero-Orta was jogging by the waterfront near the inetresection of Curtola Parkway and Marin Street when a sedan hit her.

The driver of the car stopped and has thus far been cooperating with police. Police have not released their findings of the pedestrian accident, but have stated that they do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors.

The accident occurred before sunrise, and lighting may have been a causative factor. The intersection where the accident occurred has had a history of accidents, including a 9-year-old boy who was struck and killed by a truck in 2010.
