Five people were injured — two fatally — in a recent two-car accident in California. Two women suffered fatal injuries in the horrific car crash that happened about 7:30 a.m. Three children also suffered injuries that required medical treatment.

According to reports, a California man allegedly disregarded a stop sign and drove his pickup truck through the intersection and against the right-of-way. The truck collided with the car containing the women and children. Both vehicles tipped over and landed in a nearby vineyard.

A 29-year-old California woman, who was driving, and her mother suffered fatal injuries in the accident. The children, one of which belonged to the driver, all suffered injuries in the crash. No update on their condition was available at the time of this report.

The driver believed to be responsible for causing the accident received minor injuries for which he received treatment at an area hospital. He is expected to be charged with vehicular manslaughter, according to reports. There has been no evidence that alcohol or drugs played a part in the accident, according to police.

The man who is deemed by authorities to have caused this fatal car crash says he did not see the sign for which he failed to stop. That simple mistake could potentially be the basis for a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the families of the women who died, apart from the criminal charges he is also likely to face. The injured children could also potentially have personal injury lawsuits filed on their behalf. Nothing can replace lost family members or suddenly heal injuries that are still causing pain, but successfully litigated claims could provide the means to handle the myriad of expenses and other monetary damages brought on by this tragic event.
