A little boy, who is now six-years-old, is no longer able to care for himself or do things that normal boys of his age can. This is because he was the victim of a drunk driver who caused a rear-end collision while his family’ car was stopped at a red light.

The little boy suffered such severe brain damage as a result of the crash that he was left with 80 percent damage to his brain. Now he requires care around the clock, and his parents have lost the hopes and dreams they once had for their little boy.

So what does Applebee’s have to do with this story? According to the family, the drunk driver was served too much alcohol at a particular Applebee’s restaurant, and then left the restaurant visibly intoxicated. The family believes that if the servers and the managers at the restaurant were concerned at all about this man driving, then they should have either stopped serving him alcohol, or prevented him from driving.

As a result, the family decided to file a personal injury lawsuit against the nationwide restaurant chain seeking more than $10 million. Applebee’s recently settled this lawsuit out of court for an undisclosed amount. The family members are now hoping to be able to hire a nurse to help them to care for their injured son.

This settlement should be a warning to Applebee’s restaurants throughout the country and in California that care must be given when serving alcohol to patrons who are visibly intoxicated.
