A hit-and-run accident in California has left a 24-year-old pedestrian dead. The alleged hit-and-run driver was arrested on Oct. 11 the same day as the accident that occurred at approximately 1:35 a.m.. The accident took place in the 1900 block of South Laurel Avenue, according to police. Witnesses to the accident reported seeing a female driver and two passengers, one male and one female, who were driving back and forth South Laurel near the home of one of the occupant’s former boyfriends.
According to witnesses, the car was playing loud music and the occupants were throwing trash into the ex-boyfriend’s yard. An unrelated man went to confront the driver for the noise when witnesses report that she did a U-turn and the vehicle hit him. The alleged driver was identified as a 20-year-old woman from Pomona who fled the scene.
According to officials, the woman’s Civic was found abandoned near the scene of the accident. The victim was declared dead at the scene of the crash. The driver was subsequently arrested for vehicular manslaughter as well as a hit-and-run resulting in death. She was processed at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, and authorities have asked anyone who may have additional information about the accident to come forward.
